No matter how expert you are, if another qualified person presents you with a new idea you haven’t previously contemplated, take some time to objectively understand and respect its merits before becoming intransigently dismissive. In other words, don’t be an egotistical asshat.

It’s just not that difficult. Take 5 maybe even 10 seconds to consider it. You’ll both feel better about the experience. Unless they started with “why don’t you just…” - in that case feel free to rip them a new one.
