Cool! What additional constraints beyond C² continuity are you imposing to eat up the additional degrees of freedom for the quintic compared to the cubic?

C2 continuity and local control!
unlike the cubic B-spline, it’s interpolating, unlike the cubic catmull-rom, this one is C2 rather than C1, and unlike the natural cubic C2 spline, this one has local control
