@Jonathan_Blow What about crash reporting systems like crashpad paired with aggregation systems like Mozzila's Soccoro and not actively horrible debuggers like msvc? I'd say the state is much better now than back in the day.

I was using msvc in 1996 and it was effectively the same program (actually it ran much faster).

I was using it in 2000 and using it now, debugger is so much better. Maybe I’m getting a false impression due to contrast with current competition (like xcode) which is pretty bad… Sure the process of writing code and debugging is largely the same, but the tooling is improved.
