@Jonathan_Blow @rflaherty71 I definitely don't see a reason to externalize the assembler if you're going to need it to eventually replace the backend code generation.

I definitely don’t see a reason to externalize the assembler if you’re going to need it to eventually replace the backend code generation. I can see the “ick factor” of having a bunch of assembler bloat in the compiler, but I think as end user I would just prefer it be one exe.
