I was curious about what it would take to recreate today’s tech “from scratch” if a giant EMP went off. It’s clearly a crazy number of bootstrap steps needed.
It took me to this book, which doesn’t answer my Q but a related Q. Fascinating, but oh so depressing.
No EMPs pls!

Reminds me of when people used/could to write engines from scratch at every new game/project. Perhaps it’s the best way to improve though.

There’s an anime series called 7 seeds, where civ ends due to predicted meteorite shower. Each gov selects a bunch of people based on their knowledge, including trained guides, in an attempt to repopulate earth in the aftermath…and not one of them, knew Forth…amateurs!

Don’t get me wrong, I have fondness for Forth, but if my generation had grown up on Forth instead of Basic, I suspect this would be our world today.
