Planet Earth is far more locked-in to OpenGL than most people realize. There are an endless number of applications such as visualization systems for aircraft that aren’t going anywhere.

100%, and from Apple’s perspective, when they say deprecation, realistically what they mean is “we aren’t going to fix any of the outstanding bugs in our OGL implementation” not “we’re going to drop support entirely”
