My former thesis advisor was a big proponent of forth. Apparently SunOS used forth in preboot and you could do all sorts of wacky things. He interfaced with custom compute accelerators this way. I agree that concatenantive programming languages are underexplored

I think it is less the exact form of the language but more ‘the way to make things simple’ that truely important now.

There’s something about Forth-style composition that is has a very nice appeal. It really seems to marry syntax and semantics very directly (but I can appreciate it at a distance, having not done any real work in it as you have)
