I gotta ask, why use such condensed formatting for your code?

Because when I started programming, you got paper books with programs and hand typed them into the machine. So condensed code was the way it was done so the programs could be printed on a few pages of a magazine or what not. Debuggers didn’t exist. No line stepping.

Fascinating. Can’t imagine life without debuggers.
In high school in India (in 2013!), we had to write our Java code on paper for exams. And I often ended up writing it condensed like you do.
