Tech overlords have long since realized just like chips hit power and thermal walls, and benefit/cost of process shrinks is leveling off, that the amount of $ they can extract from eyeball ad time was going asymptotic, and could go negative with population decline ->

So naturally tech overlords are all trying to finish their evolution of full government infiltration, because if they can become something that gets taxed, that their customers would finally be fully enslaved and there is little in the way of maximum $ extraction ->

In the US we’ve seen the infiltration of many industries into things like building codes - the irony of weaponizing the epa to force the periodic landfilling of all the AC units every decade as new refrigerants are forced, simultaneously outlawing geothermal cooling, etc -

This idea of a “free economy” or “capitalism” almost doesn’t really exist any more in the US, it’s more “governmentalism” at this stage. We have just enough eroding freedom to almost have a shot at the American Dream —IF— one operates outside a goven-monopolized industry.
