I agree, and this notation comes in handy in a paper where you have space restrictions. But when you see a whole book of this notation it makes it difficult to follow. Principles of Program Analysis is like that, and the authors released simplified versions.

It’s the same as math notation.

Yeah, I’m sure also in mathematics there’s a progression of books that goes from simpler explanations to this notation.

Yup. It’s all about squeezing as much info using the smallest blackboard area possible. 😬
