In modern day software engineering culture, there is some sort of assumed equivalence between how source code appears and how well the program is written. It’s nonsensical that it needs to be pointed out, but just because something appears elegant, clean, or well-designed,

does not mean that it is actually elegant, clean, or well-designed. Software engineering needs to return to being about the computer.
