I don’t think I’d classify our goals one way or another. We want to make good programming tools full stop, we just started with something that feels familiar to not change too much at once (which we think is a mistake made by many visual/structured programming environments).

I personally suspect that many of the problems with programming education will disappear or become easier when we have smarter tools that can surface more information about what the code means and how it works at the lower level.

So, on that point, we hope that what we’re doing makes performing computation easier and more effective for current programmers and non-programmers alike. We aren’t really interested in keeping with the status quo.
