Programming language features are just succinct APIs. APIs can be designed in any language. The C runtime library is not the only way to program C. And so on…

@rfleury Most developers do not understand the distinction between language feature and standard library.

@rfleury A charitable interpretation would be: For a lot of programs it's quite useful to have a common, expressive interface with basic and 'safe by default' utilities around strings.
