@rfleury

bad take is bad, the assumption that artists aren’t interested in modularity and reuse is patently false

@JoeWilsonEQ1

They are far less interested in it than programmers, on average.

@rfleury

You must have a lot of production experience, working closely with artists on shipped titles, then, yeah?

4/ @rfleury

@JoeWilsonEQ1

Certainly not a lot, some; but a lot of interaction with AAA artists, looking at their work, and examining implementations of modern AAA games, and everything I am saying comes straight from that.

@rfleury

I would say it’s reasonable to expect that someone writing a lecture on a topic should have significant domain-specific expertise. Would you agree?

6/ @rfleury

@JoeWilsonEQ1

I do have significant domain-specific expertise. I don’t need to be deeply embedded for decades in AAA production pipelines to apply my own technical expertise to critique them. They are staffed by fish in water.

Next time, be less passive aggressive. This is insufferable.

@rfleury

As a thought experiment, if I got on here to tell you about my unit testing hot takes, and you realized that not only am I not a CI specialist, I’m not even an engineer, you might be skeptical, yes?

@JoeWilsonEQ1

“not even an engineer” : “takes about unit testing” is not even remotely comparable to “engine programmer who has worked on games for decades” : “takes about post-2010 AAA game production pipelines”. Please stop being an ass.
