IMO If more artists and programmers were knowledgeable about the others work even it would make a huge difference.
I generally think it would also help if on larger teams these people were all in the same room with each other at least one day a month during production.

I don’t think the problem is artists at all, to be clear, I think it is non-technical project managers.
