Why should one be able to code without autocomplete and without a good IDE? I want to click on a symbol to find where it's defined and click on include file to go there, etc.

Nothing wrong with new tools, it’s just that most people get used to them and can never go back. It then feels to them like the old ways were horrific or they have an exaggerated negative response about the past.
