Why should one be able to code without autocomplete and without a good IDE? I want to click on a symbol to find where it's defined and click on include file to go there, etc.

Sometimes we are limited by our environment, which may limit us to the tools available on the device we are working on. This may be ‘cat > file.c’, ed, ex, notepad or whatever.
